March: Creativity & Humanity

March is nearly here— the month that allows us to slowly transition from the frost of the winter months into the season of rainfall, mud puddles, and blooming flowers. Soon it will be time to start venturing back into the outer world, so the creative in me is embracing this time of growing energy and rainy days spent reading and writing indoors.

This month’s prompts all revolve around the creative arts. Poetry, sculpting, painting, architecture, theater, photography, music— these and many other artforms tell the story of humanity. Without art we don’t have history, we don’t have culture, we don’t have humanity.

This month’s prompts are slightly different from the past months, as the majority of these prompts are directly inspired by paintings, songs, or poems that have moved me. I have used direct quotes or titles of influential works, as well as literary, musical, and aesthetic terminology or methods to hopefully inspire your writing a little this month.

My inspirations (writing notes):

~ The value that creativity has for the human species

~ What would the world— and the evolution of humanity— look like without any form of art?

~ What is it about a piece of art— a song, a poem, a sculpture, a performance— that moves someone? What does it say about who they are?

May the Muses be with you!

Sincerely,

Ariel K. Moniz
